LCR (Least Cost Routing)

LCR (“Least Cost Routing” or sometimes also known as “Merchant Choice Routing”) is an Australian payments system initiative that allows transactions conducted using eligible contactless Multi Network Visa Debit or Multi Network Mastercard Debit cards to route via the Australian eftpos scheme. This may lower the merchant acceptance costs compared with routing through the Visa or Mastercard schemes.

While LCR is supported in WEX terminals, approval to turn on this feature is under the control of the financial card acquirer. Merchants should contact their financial acquirer for LCR approval who will request the facility to be enabled by Quest on your behalf.

Offline Transaction Processing

If network is limited or unavailable at your site, you can choose to process a Motorpass transaction offline, allowing it to be uploaded to the WEX host when network is next available.

After a customer swipes their Motorpass card and the terminal has no network connection, the following sequence will occur:

Step Instruction
1 The terminal (in Standalone mode) or POS (in Integrated mode) will prompt the operator with "Process Transaction Offline?". If the operator does not want to process the transaction offline, the transaction will be declined.
2 If the card has a PIN, the terminal will prompt on the terminal for the customer to enter it. If the PIN is optional, the operator can press Enter to proceed to the next step.
3 The operator will be prompted to enter the current odometer reading and a reference for the vehicle. This is completed on the terminal (in Standalone mode) or POS (in Integrated mode).
4 Following those entries, a merchant receipt will print from the terminal (in Standalone mode) or POS (in Integrated mode) printer, prompting for the customer to sign. The customer signs the receipt and the operator checks that the signature on the receipt matches the signature on the Motorpass card. If the signature matches, the operator can click (on the POS in Integrated mode) or tap (on the terminal in Standalone mode) Yes to complete the transaction offline.
