Integrated Mode

The WEX integrated terminal connects directly to a supported POS system via a USB cable. The final transaction amount, along with the products being purchased is sent by the POS directly to the payment terminal, saving time and reducing operator keying errors.

WEX integrated terminals are not fitted with a printer, since the EFT receipt is printed by the POS printer. This receipt will likely be a combined POS receipt including the items purchased, as well as the EFT payment transaction details.

Key benefits of having the terminal integrated into your POS:

  • No manual inputting
  • Reduced risk of fraud
  • Faster sales process
  • Reporting capabilities
  • Ease of reconciliation

POS connectivity - Corded

Connecting the POS Cable

A POS supplied by one of the supported Point Of Sale Providers will connect to the WEX integrated terminal using its supplied USB-A POS cable. This cable can be easily connected to and disconnected from the terminal by following the instructions in the video below.

The terminal also contains an internal battery so that the terminal can operate from a standard USB port on the POS PC without needing a separate power supply.

USB Cable

If your POS is integrated via Cloud EFTPOS Desktop Wedge or EftposPlus Enterprise, you can connect the terminal to your POS using USB.

USB A Cable

A standard 5v USB A cable for communications to your POS. This is the standard USB port available on nearly all PCs.

Step Instructions
1 Initiate the transaction (Financial card purchase or refund) from the POS.
2 Request the customer to tap, swipe or insert their card.
3 If the customer has chosen to insert or swipe their card, they will be prompted to select their account.
4 The customer will be prompted to enter their PIN (if required).
5 Under certain circumstances (ie. customer does not enter a PIN or the card does not have a chip), a signature is required to verify whether the customer is the owner of the card. If the terminal requests you verify the customer's signature, ask the customer to sign the printed receipt. Ensure that the signature provided matches the signature on the rear of the customer's card and select Yes.
6 The transaction result is displayed on screen and a merchant receipt will be printed (if configured). Should the customer wish a copy of the receipt, select Print Customer Copy.

PIN Bypass

If the customer doesn’t know or wish to enter a PIN (step 4), you can skip (bypass) this step for certain card types (typically international signature-based cards). If the terminal prompts for 'Enter PIN or OK', you can leave the PIN blank and press 'Enter'. The card issuer will make a decision on if it will accept the transaction without a PIN and will respond accordingly.

Tipping & Surcharge

If configured, your customers may be asked to enter a tip or accept a surcharge. Please see tipping and surcharging for further information.
